We are in interesting, confusing and stressful times: if we allow and choose that experience. Please, hear me. I am with you. I have been frustrated, stressed, worried, upset and fearful. And I have been peaceful, connected, calm and empowered.
The only difference was what was going on inside my head. How I was choosing to relate to the events around me. Like so many of you, I have lost work, business and income.
The first reminder I want to share with everyone is a distinction from transformation: Interpretation vs. Fact.
So what are the facts? They are changing every day and each day is an opportunity to choose. I invite you to consider, what are the facts and then what is your interpretation about the facts? The facts are neutral (even though they are not neutral to us.) Your interpretation is up to you.
I notice it’s much easier to have an empowered interpretation when “things” are going well. Now is the time for you to be the leader you are in your family, your organization, your community and lead with an empowering interpretation.
Step One is to experience your experience. If you are sad, angry, frustrated; let yourself feel that feeling, completely. Lean into that experience and let it complete. The experience wants to complete when we allow it to do so. I am not saying you shouldn’t be responsible and follow guidelines, be rigorous with your health…this is about the conversation and mindset we can support ourselves and others in living in.
Step Two is to ask yourself, “What is an empowering interpretation or way of looking at this situation that supports me and others?” Begin to focus on that interpretation and that possibility.
What you resist persists and what you fear you attract. Please be mindful of your thoughts and your energy as they create and manifest in the physical realm.
Here are some questions to ask yourself and your community:
- What is the opportunity that this situation provides me? Think in terms of your health, spirituality, career, organization, family.
- Who am I committed to being as this all unfolds? What are the qualities that are core values to me that I can express at this time?
- What are the actions that are responsible for both me and my loved ones/community to take care of ourselves and each other?
- What can I contribute to the world around me during this time?
“A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity, an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty” Winston Churchill
We have passed the stage of “chaos” and adrenaline flow in this pandemic. We are now in “acceptance” or surrender. In being in acceptance, you may feel frustrated, contained, bored, tired. That’s ok. In fact, lean into those experiences as well.
This is the time to set yourself up physically, emotionally and spiritually. Create your daily routine that supports you and carry it beyond this COVID-19 pandemic. I also recommend getting clear on your vision for the next five years. What is your vision five years from now? Who will you be being? What is the experience of life you are committed to in 2025?
In the meantime, TAKE CARE OF YOU AND YOUR LOVED ONES. More hugs and kisses with the ones next to you. More grace with yourself. More prayer for our world.
I’ll be sending you all mine.
